Aroma: intensive and impressive; rose petals, lavender, ripe exotic yellow fruits, honeydew, mango, passion fruit, peach, lychee; spicy notes of dried herbs: cloves, sage, ginger, saffron, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Taste: strong showing, very elegant and graceful, enormous depth, deeply aromatic, rich in content and essence but with delicately flavored succulence and salty minerality. Highly refined residual sweetness in harmony with mild acidity, a nearly endless finish.
Grape varierty: 100% Gewuerztraminer.
Production area: two plots near Maso Nussbaumer. Altitude: 420 - 440m. Soil: calciferous gravel with loam on porphyry bedrock. Age of the vines: oldest Guyot-vines, over 20 years till nearly 30 years. Slope exposure: southeast. Climate: extreme interplay of sunny days influenced by the Mediterranean climate and the cool nights marked by the cold downslope winds the surrounding mountains.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand into small bins, with careful attention to every berry, and gently pressed after a short period of maceration. After destemming and compaction, a short period of maceration at low temperature follows, then gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place slowly, for more than 4 weeks at a controlled temperature of 18°C, before the fermentation is stopped by cooling to 5°C for 10 days. The wine is then transferred into small stainless steel tanks.
Matching: ideal opponent to spicy dishes, its blossom aromas harmonize with seafood and grilled fish, fabulous with white meat or dishes replete with substantial herbs or spices, like game with pear, cranberry jam and alpine herbs. Perfect with smear-ripened cheeses such as Taleggio, Remoudou, Munster or Appenzeller; last but not least, it goes well with the typical, not-too-sweet desserts of the Alps, like apple strudel with cinnamon, apricot or prune tart and Kaiserschmarrn.
Serving temperature: 12 - 14°C.
Ageing potential: more than 20 years.

"Eternal glory waits for those who discover the fullness and balance of the floral scents in a complex matrix which shows off in the glass with its intense and decidedly brilliant golden yellow colour. Giving off remarkable energy with multiple notes of white geraniums, rose petals and elderflowers. Incredibly it accelarates in sensory progression with definitely more marked traces of saffron, linden honey and sweet apricots. There's more in the distinctive soul of a top player which gives spiciness with it's notes of turmeric and white pepper in the tertiary scene. Full bodied, showing a velvety palate at the very limit of silkiness with a dense, compact structure, hard to scratch over time and a finale which is primarily voluminous but which exalts the medium persistency of the progression in the lengthening. Definitely pushing forward the limits of Gewurztraminer, exalting in the full essence of beauty. Refined for seven years in a mine at an altitude of 2000 metres a.s.l. A sweet wine with sugary residue designed to challenge time with it's grace and indomitable strength. Drink now or hold."

"(2021) This outstanding wine is expensive, but I have to say, is worth the price if you can afford it. Made from the oldest plots of Gewurz on high slopes, picked late, it is aged for six years in an abandoned silver mine, 6,500 feet up, and four kilometres deep into the mountainside. It pours a pale gold colour, and the bouquet is immediately arresting, with classic rose petal and lychee perfume, a touch of honey, and a touch of something lightly leafy and herbal. In the mouth there is glycerine richness and weight, but the punch of the vibrant and still very pretty fruit comes through, tropical and candied, but with a core of shimmering acidity that never loses focus. 1,200 bottles produced. Note that price and stockist is for the previous vintage at time of review."

"Sehr würzige und kühle Aromen, deutlich Muskat und etwas Marzipan, sowie Aprikosengelée mit herber Quitte. Am Gaumen satte und kompakte Süsse, erinnert fast ein wenig an die edelsüsse Sauternes-Stilistik. Kein Leichtgewicht aber bestens balanciert mit nahezu perfektem Zusammenspiel von Süsse und Alkohol. Die Säure bringt Vitalität und die sehr präzise Frucht besticht trotz der satten Süsse durch eine herrliche pure Gewürztraminer Aromatik. Auch wieder diese (typische?) leicht mentholige Kühle, die viele der Wein der Cantina Tramin besitzen. Erstaunlich ist die Frische der Aromen nach fast 10 Jahre Reife."
