"Ventisquero has two vineyards on the banks of the Huasco River, in the Atacama Desert. And from these two, they made a selection of sauvignon blanc planted on calcareous with almost no clay. This is an extremely mineral sauvignon--there's no fruit here, but if there were, it might remind you of lemon juice. It's firm in body, tense in acidity, juicy and electric, with an energy that would go very well with oysters or sole ceviche. Another of the Tara wines that seems to have been made of stones instead of fruit."

"This is the new member of Tara, a selection from the soils richest in calcium carbonate from the two vineyards that Ventisquero has in the Huasco Valley, on both banks of the river of the same name. This white is another of the great examples of how a place--that desert--influences the characteristics of a variety until it transforms it into something completely different. This sauvignon has grip, it has salt and chalk. It doesn't seem to be made from grapes, but from that salt that comes from the coastal "camanchacas," the humid breezes that spread from the Pacific to the interior of the valley. A wine that goes far beyond the grape and the mere idea of being a varietal. The place is in command. And it's not just anywhere."
