In der Nase subtil, mit Aromen die an Kirsche, Pflaume, reife Erdbeeren, Nelke und Zuckergebäck erinnern, eine feine, mineralische Note schwingt mit. Im Auftakt seidenweich, anfangs erstaunlich schlank, baut dann mehr und mehr Druck auf, die Süsse Frucht wird von feinkörnigen Tanninen getragen, die sich erst ganz hinten im Gaumen bemerkbar machen und zusammen mit der top integrierten Säure Halt verleihen. Im Abgang von guter Länge und mit kräuterwürzigen Rückaromen. Trotz seiner Opulenz wirkt der Wein elegant und leichtfüssig. Ab sofort für mindestens 10 Jahre ein Hochgenuss. Von 1997 bis 2006 war der Wein mehrheitlich Sangiovese mit etwas Merlot, seit 2007 besteht der Wein grossmehrheitlich aus Merlot. 2018 wurde der Wein quasi «neu» lanciert. 100% Merlot, 14.5% Alkohol, pH 3.28, 5.92g Säure, 29.63 g/l Trockenextrakt, 21 Monate in 500 Liter Tonneaux sowie Barriques ausgebaut, 30% Neuholz) Kräftiges Rubinrot. Die Nase zeigt intensive Aromen von Pflaumen, Schwarzkirschen, eingekochten Beeren, Zimt, geröstete Haselnuss. Der Gaumen ist dicht, reiffruchtig, warm, feinkörnige Tannine umgarnen die Frucht, die Säure ist gut verpackt, verleiht zusätzlich Struktur, der Alkohol dominiert nicht.
