FIHL is the ancient name of VILLA, a hamlet located North of Egna. Here is where the winery is located.The Merlot vineyard is in Gries. Before bottling, the Merlot is usually blended with part of Iugum (Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) In exceptional vintages like 2020, Fihl is bottled by itself and not blended at all. Therefore in these vintages the quantity of Fihl is smaller.

ALTIDUDE VINE TRAINING SYSTEM: simple cane pruned (Guyot)
PLANTED AREA: 0,4 hectares
VINE DENSITY: 6.000 vines per hectare
HARVEST TIME: mid September
VINIFICATION: the grapes are destemmed and fermented in stainsteel open vats for 10 days approximately with punch downs twice a day. The wine is then racked in stainsteel vats where the malolactic fermentation occurs. When malolactic is over the wine is aged in barriques 20% new and 80% of 3-5th run. After 12 months the wine is bottled and released after 14 months.

The resulting olive oil is green in colour with golden reflections and is characterised by a fresh, fruity, nutty and aromatically full flavour.
This special espresso is extremely low in acidity, spicy with appealing roasted aromas and yet fruity in taste.
The Meczan Pinot Noir is distinguished by its unmistakable varietal character, its distinctive aroma and fruity character, by its bright ruby colour with garnet reflexes, and its fresh, stimulating bouquet with seductive hints of woodland berries and cherry. On the palate Meczan is harmonious, sappy and mellow with impressive fruit.
